My Insights from the Bible
This World is Not Our Home
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." (Rev 21:3 - 5 ESV)

We look forward to a new heaven and earth
No matter what our trials and tribulations are in this life, we can have something to look forward to. Christians everywhere suffer for their faith in Jesus. Verses like the ones above give them encouragement and help them stand fast in their faith. This world is not our true home; our true home is the new heaven and earth promised by God and described in the Book of Revelation.
Too many of today’s Christians have lost this vision. They are only concerned with the “here and now”. They think they are doing God’s work by making this world a better place and not sharing the truth of the Gospel and of new heaven and earth God has planned for His people. God is not the god of this world, Satan is, and our working to make it a better place will only be a temporary thing.
Christians will never fix all the world’s problems no matter how hard they try. There will always be good goals and worthy projects we as Christians can do, but we will never turn around the tide of evil and make this world God’s paradise. For this reason Christ returns and puts an end to evil and the disobedient people who live in this present world. We have His promise. Our main task is to share the Gospel and rescue some of the lost before it is too late.
